Major changes to the visa rules, commercial visa runs are not happening any more and its no longer possible to make many of the 30 day and 60 day visas while inside the country.

Allegedly NO MORE GRACE period on tourist visas. The National reports that as of 31st May no more 9 day grace period for 30 day visa holders.

https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/2023/05/31/dubai-removes-10-day-grace-period-for-visit-visas/

However many GoTours customers are reporting they still have grace period. We believe it may be that 30 day paid visas no longer have 9 day grace period but visa on arrival does, however as is often the case, its anyone’s guess.

The article above mentions “The decision to make all entry visas valid for 60 days from the date of issue”
– This is wrong. Brits and all other 30 day visa nationals STILL get 30 day visas, not 60. Its a shame there is often so much conflicting information, because many tourists come to the country reading they get 60 days and then get stung with non-negotiable overstay fines when they leave.

If you are unsure when your visa expires, best to use this government link and your passport info….

Latest rules for travelling to Oman – 7 Feb 22

These are the latest rules. If there are any updates, we will update this page.

Oman is maintaining measures imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19 as of Feb. 7.

Domestic Measures
Mandates on public gathering size limits, the use of protective facemasks, downloading track and trace mobile applications, and compliance with social distancing guidelines remain in force. All conferences, exhibitions, and large gatherings are suspended. Entry to government and private establishments will be restricted to vaccinated individuals. Proof of vaccination is required for entry to these establishments.

International Travel Restrictions
All travelers over the age of 18 must have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine before entering Oman via land, air, or sea. The last dose must have been administered no less than 14 days before arrival in the country. The vaccination requirement is in addition to a PCR test taken before or on arrival in Oman. Approved vaccines in Oman include Oxford-AstraZeneca, AstraZeneca-Covsheild, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Sinovac, Sinopharm, and Sputnik V. All travelers must also pre-register via the eMushrif platform and upload their vaccine and PCR certificates containing QR codes. Diplomats are exempt from pre-registering and providing PCR test results. To access the eMushrif platform, click https://covid19.emushrif.om/.

Travelers can take the required COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival, but they must pay the fees via the eMushrif platform. Those who have recovered from COVID-19 but test positive upon arrival can skip quarantine so long as they can show proof that they underwent isolation in the country where they contracted the disease. Additionally, all travelers must have international health insurance that covers the cost of COVID-19 treatment for at least one month.

All travelers arriving in Oman with a negative PCR test will be exempt from quarantine. To qualify for this exemption, passengers arriving on flights shorter than eight hours must have taken the test no more than 72 hours before arrival; those traveling on flights longer than eight hours must have taken the test no more than 96 hours before arrival.

Except as stipulated otherwise, travelers with positive PCR test results must quarantine for a minimum of 10 days. Persons subject to quarantine must stay at a government-approved facility at their own expense. Release from quarantine is contingent upon a negative COVID-19 test result. Before traveling, all individuals must download the Tarassud+ track and trace application. To access the app, click https://apps.apple.com/om/app/tarassud/id1502105746.

Authorities could introduce new preventive measures or amend existing restrictions depending on disease activity in the coming days and weeks.

Advice: Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Confirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.

UAE visa reforms: Residents to get up to 180 days grace period after losing job  –  6/9/21

Expats who have lost their job in the UAE will soon be able to stay up to six months in the country as part of the leadership’s new reforms announced on Sunday.

The UAE law currently allows employees, who have been made redundant, to leave the country within 30 days. But the authorities are relaxing the grace period and would allow people to stay from three to six months after losing the job.

This announcement brings a major relief to employees as it will give them ample time to search for another job. For the UAE, it will help retain the talent within the country.

“We are relaxing the grace period one gets to leave the country after being made redundant. Instead of the previous 30 days, people will have 90 to 180 days to leave the country,” said Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade.

Latest entry rules 30/8/21

Beginning Aug. 30, authorities in the UAE will begin reissuing tourist visas for fully vaccinated persons traveling from all countries, provided that they are fully vaccinated with one of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. All arrivals on a tourist visa will be subject to a PCR test.

A robust set of COVID-19-related international travel restrictions remains in force in the UAE. Rules for entering the country generally include various requirements for pre-departure and post-arrival COVID-19 testing, self-isolation mandates and exemptions, and circumstances under which entry is prohibited. Regulations can vary significantly based on several factors, including the traveler’s vaccination status, country of origin, and the constituent emirate via which the individual is entering the UAE.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi has implemented its own set of measures in addition to those that are in effect across the UAE. These include maintaining a so-called “green list” of countries from which travelers may enter the emirate without subsequently having to quarantine. However, they are still subject to all on-arrival and post-entry COVID-19 testing requirementshttps://u.ae/en/information-and-services/justice-safety-and-the-law/handling-the-covid-19-outbreak/travelling-amid-covid-19/travelling-to-the-uae which vary based on their vaccination status. Travelers arriving in Abu Dhabi from countries not on the green list are subject to quarantine measures. For details on Abu Dhabi’s quarantine measures and its green list, click https://visitabudhabi.ae/en/plan-your-trip/covid-safe-travel and https://www.mediaoffice.abudhabi/en/health/abu-dhabi-emergency-crisis-and-disasters-committee-updates-travel-procedures-for-citizens-residents-and-visitors/.

Visitors can travel to Abu Dhabi by road but must have received a negative result from a PCR or Laser-Based Diffractive Phase Interferometry (DPI) test before travel. Additional testing is required for visitors and residents who remain in Abu Dhabi for four days or longer. Dubai residents can land at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) before crossing into Dubai without undergoing quarantine in Abu Dhabi.

The Emirate of Dubai has implemented several COVID-19-related international travel restrictions. There are multiple regulations for pre-departure, transit, and post-arrival COVID-19 testing, self-isolation mandates and exemptions, and circumstances under which entry is prohibited. Moreover, all passengers are required to complete a health declaration form. For details on Dubai’s entry restrictions, clickhttps://u.ae/en/information-and-services/justice-safety-and-the-law/handling-the-covid-19-outbreak/travelling-amid-covid-19/travelling-to-the-uae.

Authorities are allowing flights from India, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Uganda to resume under certain conditions. All passengers with a valid UAE residence visa who have received pre‑entry approval through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) and are fully vaccinated are allowed to enter from these six countries. Additionally, individuals working in the health, education, or government sectors, as well as students, can enter the UAE regardless of their vaccination status. All passengers from these countries are allowed to transit through UAE airports, provided they present negative PCR tests taken 72 hours before departure.

All air travelers must present a negative PCR test result before departing for the UAE. Under most circumstances, the test must be taken within 72 hours before travel; however, the required time frame can vary between 48 and 96 hours before departure depending on which emirate an individual is traveling to and their country of origin. Officials may require an additional PCR test on arrival in the UAE.

In terms of domestic restrictions, most commercial establishments, restaurants, and tourist attractions are open across the nation. Authorities encourage the use of protective face coverings and compliance with social distancing guidelines in public settings. Authorities in Abu Dhabi are permitting entry into several public places only for those who are vaccinated. Find out more on our useful questions page.

15/7/21 Oman visa runs still not possible.

Since March 2020 Oman closed its border posts to tourists without notice.
It has not been possible to do Visa runs since this time. Some of our customers have been confused by a Gulf News article saying that Oman borders are open to Overland visitors, but this is an out of date article published back in 2003.

As Oman battles Covid the future of visa runs looks uncertain. News indicates that when Oman does eventually reopen it’s borders by land, air and sea tourists will need to be double vaccinated, take a PCR test on arrival and also potential quarantine.

To do a visa run customers will need to meet the entry requirements for visiting Oman and visiting the UAE which also has rules requiring GDRFA approval, PCR testing and a health declaration.

So for now, we are assisting all out regular visa run customers by offering our in-country Visa Renewal service.
